Welcome to Happy Valley Ultimate (HVU). If you like a casual game of co-ed pick-up that involves all levels of play and encourages a social atmosphere, Happy Valley Ultimate pick-up games are for you. We meet three days a week from spring to fall, and our main priority is to have fun and help others learn the game of ultimate frisbee. Pickup

Below are the pick-up times for 2009. This year, we will be playing Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays throughout the spring and fall. When summer comes, Thursdays will be dropped due to summer league games. We tried Friday pickup games last year, but not with a lot of success, so we're switching back to the "old" schedule.

As long as the temperature's not freezing cold and it's not raining, we'll be out there! If you're not sure if the weather's good enough, feel free to email the entire group to see who's planning on showing up or communicate with others through our new Facebook group. Typically, the pickup "season" runs from the beginning of April through the end of October.

We play on the State College Community Fields which are located on South Atherton Street just across from Hamilton Square Plaza on Hamilton Street. If the field closest to South Gill Street (just below the tennis courts) is being used, the field closest to Atherton Street is usually open and should be used as an alternate meeting place.

We have dedicated group of volunteers that is committed to setting up cones at 6:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 1:00 on Sundays. Come early if you want to warm up, or arrive right on time to dive into the action! Don't forget to bring a light and a dark colored shirt (no grays!) so that we can make even teams.

Tourneys

Each year, we host a Hat Tournament in the spring to get everyone out and kickoff the ultimate season. At the Hat Tournament, new players can come to learn the basics of ultimate frisbee. Teams are formed by drawing names out of a hat and summer league registration forms will be available also. This year's Hat Tournament will be at Community Fields on Sunday, May 17th, at 1:00. See you there!
